Group project update

Just had the group project presentations in the labs to show where we are at with the level. At this stage there are 1/3 weeks to go depending on how you look at it. Personally i see it as 1 week, then the cool stuff can begin. I've managed to acquire a 2 hour DVD on simply doing cool shit with materials in unreal so I'm really hoping i can bring some stuff from that in in the last few weeks.

I think the presentations today will have really boosted our group moral. Not that it was low, just that i think we've all been grafting really hard and it was really good to see our progress in comparison to everyone else's. I think we all agree now that we are on track and it's reassuring to know that we are doing a good job. The other groups have some cool stuff but i have no idea how they intend to bring some of those levels together before the final deadline. I can only assume they'll be utilising the whole 3 weeks for things that should have already been done.

That said our group still has a way to go. We have a whole office room with nothing in it and there are still a few assets not imported such as my lift shaft. I've set it up in a separate unreal file, just need to find some time when the master file is free to import it.

Actually, aside from that it really is just tweaking and all the small details.

Not too bad really.

Personally today has given me the remaining drive to really finish off this project to the best of our ability. I'm proud of our group so far and i have no doubt that in 3 weeks the finished level will be awesome.

I think the nasty surprise that is going to creep up on everyone in the last week is the documentation, not so much the group documentation but the individual ones. And the individual unreal rooms. I'm probably going to take a whole weekend out in the next few weeks just to do them to a good standard. Thankfully because our level is on track i can afford that luxury.

Anyway, back to the grind :)
